This statement is the impetus behind my passion. The Epona Series expresses the love I feel for the untamed natural world.
Epona, the horse goddess, stimulates an awareness for remembering our intricate connection to the cosmic whole. As if breaking out of captivity, my gestural style has evolved through years of illustrating in many styles and mediums, from highly photographic renderings to much simpler natural forms. The minimalist shapes are inspired by my Scandanavian and Celtic heritage which embrace the timeless and pure feminine form.
We are all artists. The artist in us is merely the expression of the creative spirit of the universe - the source.
Where there is art, there is healing, where there is healing there is peace. We are here to heal and transcend old wounds that will heal ourselves and ultimately the planet.
We have to acknowledge what was and can no longer be and then move on. Perhaps what we really need is a day - let's call it The Middle of the Night Day - everyone in America gets up to paint. Well, not everyone has to paint, they just jump out of bed with unbridled passion to do something. Let loose. Create. Get wild. Imagine the entire country releasing all those creative juices simultaneously in the middle of the night.
We are all on the same journey; just at different places on the path.
